What does your kitchen "junk drawer" look like? What about your office desk? Rubbermaid has a great blog that talks about how to organize different spaces in your home and office. Recently, there was a post on using a silverware sorter to organize things other than silverware.
That reminded me of a personal project I had done a while back. . .
Could you find what you wanted in the drawer to the right?
I couldn't either! So here is what I did about it.
You can't organize, until you know what you are organizing! So, I dumped the drawer and sorted all of the items into piles of similar things.
I then got rid of things that did not work and put things away that had a home.
Now, you may wonder why you should label compartments that will hold stuff (and cover the labels.) I say it is husband support! You see, I set up the system, but I don't expect my husband to think the way that I do. By putting the labels in the compartments, he will know (and I will remember) where items go when they need to be put away again.
Put the organizer back in the drawer
Wow! It is so much easier to find what I want now.
What tricks do you use to keep your "junk drawer" organized?
